Introducing Me
Hello and welcome to my Substack!
I’m Lauren, an ancient historian in training and museum assistant. I love ancient history, literature, art, coffee, and good rainy day 🍂 ☕️ . I received my Bachelor of Arts with a major in Classics and minor in ancient Greek from the University of Manitoba in 2021 and my Master of Arts in Classics from the University of Toronto in 2023. My career aspirations include obtaining a PhD one day and working in museum curation at a history museum. I’ve been passionate about ancient objects since I was a teenager and I’m now also exploring my growing interest in ancient literature.
I’ve started this little blog because I found the social media too limiting to discuss everything I would like to discuss about my favourite topics. Maybe that’s a sign that I ramble on too long, but I’ve also been seeking a place where I can delve deeper into topics about which I’m passionate and connect with readers more.
I’m also hoping that I can connect more with the works I’m reading and improve my writing skills through this space. I’m on a journey to reconnect with a language I love, ancient Greek, and read more widely since completing my Master’s degree. As a history major, the languages always came second in my studies to archaeological methods and practices, so now I’m looking to truly take my time with ancient works and improve my language skills while also connecting with you, dear reader, and your love for history and literature. You may also find some essays, exhibition reviews, book reviews, and reflections here as well.
If discussion about ancient literature, history and art are your cup of tea, I invite you to subscribe to stay updated on any future posts. I hope you stick around for a while and I’m excited to have you along on this journey. If you’d like to see more photos like the ones in this article, I also post on Instagram under latinandlatte.
Sincerely,
Lauren
